The next DIPLA meeting will
be held Friday, January 8th, 2010, at the Engineers
Club.
Our speaker will be Roger Bora, a trademark attorney at
Thompson Hine LLP here in Dayton. Mr. Bora's
presentation is titled "Brand Protection in the Social
Media Age." With the rapid development of social
networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and
YouTube to name a few, preservation of intellectual
property rights has become a growing concern. The
presentation will highlight this issue with background of
some pertinent trademark infringement cases related to
social networking sites. We then will explore
strategies for monitoring against activities harmful to
trademark rights and for enforcing rights when harmful
activities are detected.
This program has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio
for 1.0 hour of general CLE. Electronic copies of the
presentation will be available after the meeting.
The cost of lunch is included in the DIPLA membership
dues. Non-member guests may attend for a $10
fee.
